Have you started a summer read?

This is mine.  It's absolutely fascinating and so well written.  I've only read the first 100 pages, but I'm enjoying the story of the man behind the idea to build the Brooklyn Bridge, and then how the project progressed to completion. It was Roebling's hope that people would come to New York just to see this incredible structure.  In the mid-1800's, this would have been the most impressive building project to date. I find I take so much for granted, not knowing what led to such engineering feats that have progressed the country forward!!

  1. Have you heard about Galloping Gertie, our infamous bridge that's used in engineering classes? Sounds like an interesting read. I recently finished Extremely Loud, Incredibly Close but didn't like it much.

  2. I'm so happy you are enjoying a good summery read! I love hearing what people do and don't love about books. Im hopelessly picky.....I think this comes from having been a english major before heading into a nursing career

  3. I just started Sing You Home by Jodi Picoult. Loving the book so far.

I agree with Judy about Extremely Loud, Incredibly Close. I just couldn't "like" the main character and it made the book very tedious.
