Yes, it’s an unusually hot, dry summer on the high
plains. In the news, there are reports
of the hottest June ever recorded, and July is looking to be more of the same. Thus, I cannot help but give the pending
drought conditions some serious thought and prayer. I have been considering the various ways that
mankind may be either accepting or challenging the idea of drought, which
according to Webster, is “a prolonged period of dryness which damages… or
prevents successful growth.”
What is at the root of drought in our own experience? What may be prolonging a mental drought? Is it fear, worry, doubt, lack,
greed, anger, pride, selfishness, judging, complaining, . . .?
Are we
accepting those things which uproot or prevent our successful (spiritual) growth … or are we
challenging them? More in tomorrow’s post…
Great thots to ask ourselves.
