Here's a song for Thursday... one of my favorites. It's a song of hope, and was evidently written by Paul McCartney in response to the civil rights movement. I love the melody and the lyrics, and I have played it so, so many times on the piano at home and a couple times in public, as a piano duet and accompanying a soloist. Let me share the first verse today.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings...and learn to fly;
All your life...you were only waiting for this moment to arise.
"Blackbird"
Words and music by John Lennon and Paul McCartney
Love those Beatles!
